Frequently Asked Questions
We are here to serve our community at Bunny Besties. We do it with cuddly, loving and trained bunnies. Coping with stress can be hard in these times we live in today. We want to help you answer and questions you might have about how our nonprofit services might help those you serve. Please see our FAQ's or contact us for all your questions!
Can I adopt or surrender rabbits with the Bunny Besties?
Bunny Besties rescues its rabbits but is not a rescue to adopt nonprofit organization. Our rabbits stay in sanctuary with us for life. We do not facilitate surrenders or adoptions. Once our rabbits are rescued into our organization, we train them to do AAI and AAT in our community. All Bunny Besties Ambassador rabbits are owned by our nonprofit organization and receive the highest level of care. Animal Welfare is at our core.
How does your nonprofit 501c3 get its funding?
Bunny Besties gets its funding from supporters just like you. We have a strong community around us and they hold us up. We also are a fee for service nonprofit and have a nonprofit store as an additional source of revenue. We are looking forward to grants from the generous Twin Cities Foundations in the future!
Can I volunteer with your nonprofit organization? How old do volunteers need to be?
We are always in need of more volunteers! To begin the process, please visit our volunteer page. You must be at least 13 years old to volunteer, and need a waiver signed by a parent/guardian if you are under the age of 18. Unfortunately due to RHDV2 concerns, at this time we are unable to have volunteers bring their own rabbit
Can rabbits spread COVID19 during visits?
Sick rabbits never visit. Any signs of illness bring us to the veterinarian instead of a visit at a facility. We also do not visit with rabbits who are on medication for an acute illness. Follow this link from guidelines from the CDC. Animals and COVID-19 | CDC
How do you keep the Bunny Besties rabbits safe from COVID19 infection from human interactions?
Bunny Besties follows all guidelines recommended by our Veterinarian and reliable sources like the CDC. Please follow this link for more to learn. Guidance for Handlers of Service and Therapy Animals | Healthy Pets, Healthy People | CDC
Where are you located?
Please visit our location page on the website for a map and address of where we are located.
How far do you travel for community visits and is there a transportation fee?
Bunny Besties travels up to 35 miles from our location in Minnetonka. A long car ride to and from home can be stressful for prey animals. On top of a visit it can be just too much. For our Ambassador Rabbits welfare we limit travel to thirty five miles. Alot of care goes into the rabbit's comfort when traveling like carriers, bedding, and travel totes specially made for cold weather. All of these costs add up with the soaring cost of gas now our nonprofit has to find a way to cover our costs. This is why we add on a transportation fee.
How can someone donate to this great cause?
Thank you for your generosity! Please visit the donate page. Your generosity funds many things including the care of the rabbits in our sanctuary (vetting costs and general care), our location and the operation of our Animal-Assisted Interactions programming.
